Electric Relaxation

I Press Play and lay back in Electric Relaxation,
All Eyez on Me, as I zone out with no Reasonable Doubt
that these Words and Sounds will take me to Where I Wanna Be,
All necessary thoughts are confined to this serene state of mind
as the similes and metaphors of each lyric “Outcast” my “Common”
visions to the “Far Side”.
The depictions of Anthology make things Easy (like Sunday morning)
as I’m able to Release Therapy In My Mind, Get Away And Then…. Chill
The vocals charge
And The Beat Goes On, and as I Bounce my head
Back and Forth I begin to understand the Floetic “Music” instilled in a “soul” of a “child”.
The Blast of music is able to Usher my journey, and although it’s not
reminiscent of a Voyage to India, the Emotions depicted in this form of
Foreign Exchange carry my attention All Around the World.
I indulge in Easy Conversation with the rhythm, The Script written via
instrumental. We discuss a Day In The Life of myself and I say If This World Were Mine
I would Have No More Drama; I made the Song Cry for so long it seemed a Slim Shady
but eventually it let me know that Everything is Everything and in this Moment In Life,
I have to take things Step By Step and things will be Alright.
Rest assured Today Was A Good Day.
I nod to the beat and sleep to the sound,
and challenge the lyrics until my feet touch the ground,
I take 2 Steps and remove the headphones from my ears and press Stop.
My Ipod’s like an Amusement Park of Eclectic sounds and
Whenever, Wherever, Whatever the weather, I can make The Heat stop
and let the Cold Play All Night Long til 3.A.M. I Am Free!
From the sounds of Neo-Soul, to the words from Ne-yo’s soul I listen from
album to album and when I come to the end and it seems like It’s Over, I
always seem to find myself Back At One.
I skip back through all the albums I paid for and smile coz despite More Money
More Problems; I wouldn’t take a Nickel back.
I wait for the Next day of Electric Relaxation.

The Scriptwriter Chronicles: MEN ON THE ROAD (Part 2)

Whoops! was supposed to post this part last week wasnt I? I tell you what, i'll post Part 2 today and Part 3 on Thursday, deal?

Part 2 - Too Cool for Radio

Julian makes his way back to the car and slams the door. He sits inside and grimaces while he takes off the top of his adidas tracksuit. Mumbling to himself, he starts the car and begins to drive...

JULIAN

3 Minutes yeah? ok! ok! This is some bulls&!%. How she gonna disrespect me in front of everyone like that? Acting like Im incompetent. Yeah real funny Ha Ha Ha No! I know Im good. She doesnt even count the foreplay or nothing. It was just that one time! Now she's tryna blow it out of proportion. It happens...and I eat alot of mints and go to the gym, plus I had a cramp so you know, it can take it's toll. I aint going back! No way! She wants to act like that, go ahead. AND WHY AM I TALKING TO MYSELF!?!

Julian stops at the traffic light and stares at his phone. He contemplates for a small while...after a few shakes of the head he picks up the phone and calls Jane. The phone goes straight to voicemail. Julian sighs

JULIAN

Im not going back. I just wanna get the boys and make my way

Julian eventually gives in and illegally turns back. He's now on route towards his house. He switches on his radio and skims through the stations

RADIO DJ

The number 3 song of the week is 3 minutes by Jules Ceasar

Julian switches station

RADIO DJ2

OK Lisa you've extended your time. You now have to answer 10 questions in 3 minutes It shouldnt be too difficult, although I have seen adverts that last longer so good luck

Julian switches the station

TONY

Ok we're live. It's 10:32am on the Morning show with Tony and Mark. If you've just joined us we're discussing fools in love. Caller number 2 you're through. Speak on it.

JANE

Hello this is Jane

JULIAN

Jane!?

TONY

Jane?

JANE

Jane

JULIAN

What the F...

MARK

Ok Jane, what's your story

JANE

Cant believe Im saying this

JULIAN

That makes 2 of us!!

JANE

Been married for two years now and I have 2 wonderful children. The first year was all I could have ever wished for but it's just not the same anymore. He doesnt take my needs seriously, takes everything as a joke but what really gets to me is the quality time, or lack of it.

MARK

So lets just say the honeymoon period is evidently over

JULIAN

Yes, well done Frasier

MARK

Have you tried any attempts to you know, spice up your life. Remember we're on the morning show so be careful with your answers

JULIAN

Yes, very careful

Julian's eyes keep switching focus between the road in front of him and the radio

JANE

Yeah all the time, we've tried a few things to spice up the relationship but it doesnt seem to work anymore. I mean how long can you put up with the physical part of a relationship if it only lasts three minutes

MARK

Whoa! The DJ's chuckle while Julian's bottom jaw makes connection with the floor Well I cant speak for your husband on that part of the situation because each man is to his own...

TONY

Performance

MARK

Yeah thats the morning word, Thanks Tony

TONY

No problem Mark. So Jane just to save time worrying about syllables what's your husband's name?

JULIAN

Dont say it Jane!

JANE

My husband's name?

TONY AND MARK

Yeah!

JULIAN

Oh My God. Jane I've taught you better than this, please dont say it!

Julian pulls up outside his house, he jumps out the car and runs towards his front door. As he opens the door he sees Jane on the phone

JANE

His name is Julian

JULIAN

Noooooooooo!

Jane Jumps and drops her phone. They stare face to face...

The Ideas Of Serendipity

Serendipity - "The faculty of making happy and unexpected discoveries by accident"

A couple weeks back I had an interesting and unprompted conversation with a close friend (call it an ironic form of serendipity if you will) about the idea of serendipity, it's connotations and the wider perspective surrounding it's meaning. I myself like the idea of serendipity; among the obvious benefits it makes life a little bit more interesting and myself that much more thankful even though I believe everything happens for a reason. My friend agreed to an extent but suggested that although things may happen for a reason the idea that our whole life is mapped out is hard to believe. If it is, we hardly end up going in that direction, at least not in the way initially planned.

Hmmm...

The belief resultant from that statement is that our lives may not be mapped out by god or fate (depending on what you believe in) as sometimes we choose things that we know we dont really want but we go ahead and choose it anyway. Surely if our lives were mapped out for us, the notion would be for us to choose exactly what we want even if mistakes were made; as the outcome would turn out right in the end. My friend had a point but from the wider perspective we must realise that life has always been a series of decisions and just because we may make bad ones it doesn't mean that it wasn't part of the overall plan. A journey is never a linear direction, if that was the case we would ALWAYS get what we were looking for right? Nonetheless another question dawned on me...

If we were giving the power of free will would it not seem a strange but logical contradiction to the idea of fate?

Some people like to play with free will and fate by blaming a decision or lack of decision on the idea that everything happens for a reason. It makes them feel better and lightens the burden of being responsible for everything that happens to them. "I guess it just wasnt meant to be" OR "If it's meant to be there'd be a sign" (Pssh please). Indeed I feel strongly that some things are meant and of course some not but using it as an excuse or taking advantage of that privilege not only undermines your value but causes prevention of a knowledgable journey. Simultaneously though, it's more acceptable when people sacrifce their decisions either to please others or because they are scared of the outcome. It is these mechanisms of free will that allow me to think that the strange contradiction may not be such a contradiction after all.

Serendipity's a funny thing aint it.

The Scriptwriter Chronicles: MEN ON THE ROAD (Part 1)

I got a little bored today so I started a script from scratch and thought I might aswell turn it into a mini blog series (expect many many more series to come). Every week I'll continue the story, lets just see how far I go. MEN ON THE ROAD: PART 1.

Part 1 - It's My House

It’s an early Friday morning with no cloud or wind. A new looking ford focus rests on a side pavement, the sun shines directly on to the car leaving an effervescent glow. A house door in the background is then opened and we find ourselves in the middle of a full-on argument between a couple

JANE

Decisions Julian! That’s what this is all about, I make a suggestion and you decide whether its good for you or not. Im sick of it!

JULIAN

Listen, lets not even try and play the blame game, it's not cute anymore! I specifically told you I was going out with the guys this weekend, in fact one week ago. I remember it like it was yesterday

JANE

You fool!...It was yesterday!

JULIAN

Yeah…well, I'll be back tomorrow evening, if you still want to go out we’ll go, and can you please stop shouting in public? it's embarassing

JANE

No I tell you what's embarassing, a husband who cares more about his personal demands than the poignant needs of his family

JULIAN

First of all.....I dont know what poignant means so Im gonna give you a bly on disrespectful terminology.... Second but most importantly dont ever question my love for my family. I love you all but this weekend is Julian time, and in Julian time it’s all about Julian. Julian walks off smiling

JANE

Surprise Surprise. So Jane does the pampering, the cooking, the cleaning, the slaving! I guess you want me to be lying down with my legs open when you get back too! Julian approaches the car and presses the alarm on his key

JULIAN (smiling)

Only if you want to, but knowing you that would just be a bonus

JANE

No love a bonus would be you lasting more than three minutes!

A gasp is heard around the neighbourhood. Julian turns back towards his wife in shock

JULIAN (stuttering)

Ex...Excuse me. Erm...What, what’s that supposed to mean?

JANE

It means I’ve seen adverts that last longer than you!

JULIAN

Wow you're really looking for that fight aint you? Im not too scared to shake you!....I'll tell the judge it was self-defence

JANE

Well you can think about that while you're driving with your friends, this conversation is over as fast as your bed antics

JULIAN

No it's over when I..Jane slams the front door. ...it's over

Julian makes his way back to the car fuming. He sits inside and grimaces while he takes off the top of his adidas tracksuit. Mumbling to himself, he starts the car and begins to drive...

PART 2 coming soon....
